Experience Refreshing Mountain—Every Season of the Year
While many retreat centers close their gates during the off-season, Refreshing Mountain stays open all year long, welcoming guests rain, snow, or shine. Whether you’re planning a spontaneous day trip or a full-blown weekend retreat, our campus is alive with activity and hospitality every single season.
But what truly sets us apart? We don’t just endure the seasons—we celebrate them. With themed décor, seasonal activities, and experiences crafted to highlight the best of each time of year, there’s always something new waiting for you. Let’s take a walk through the seasons together and see what makes each one unforgettable at Refreshing Mountain.

Summer: Sun-Soaked Adventures & Glow Nights Under the Stars
Summer at Refreshing Mountain is the ultimate experience—sunlight filtering through the treetops, the sounds of laughter echoing across the pool, and the thrill of adventure in the air. This is our busiest time of year for good reason: nearly every activity is open daily, including our high ropes courses, ziplines, axe throwing, and more.
Families flock to the community pool for cooling off on sunny afternoons, and the 319 Café becomes a beloved stop for iced treats and refueling snacks. Guests staying overnight in our cozy cabins enjoy not only all the action, but also peaceful campfires under the stars, tucked behind their cabins.
This year, we’re turning up the excitement with our Glow Nights—a limited-time, after-dark ziplining experience filled with neon lights, glow-in-the-dark gear, and an unforgettable nighttime energy. Add in axe throwing and crackling campfires, and you’ve got a summer evening like no other. Happening over Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day weekends—spots are limited, so grab yours early!

Fall: Crisp Air, Colorful Leaves & Cozy Traditions
As the summer buzz softens into the golden glow of autumn, Refreshing Mountain becomes a haven of seasonal fun and family bonding. Our Fall Fest Days offer playful seasonal touches—pumpkin chucking, rubber duckie tosses, and festive campus décor with hay bales, flannel, and all things pumpkin spice.
The trees erupt in spectacular reds, oranges, and yellows, offering the perfect backdrop for fall ziplining, family photos, and slow walks under the changing canopy. Families and groups cozy up by the fire after exploring the grounds, and our Fall Homeschool Days become a budget-friendly highlight—a full day of adventure at a fraction of the price.
We also welcome guests celebrating Sukkot, providing a peaceful space for larger family gatherings. Whether you’re here for a church outing, school field trip, or a weekend retreat, fall offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation for all ages.

Winter: Peaceful Retreats & Dazzling Lights
Winter at Refreshing Mountain brings a peaceful beauty all its own—and starting in late November, the campus transforms into a twinkling holiday wonderland. Our Christmas Light Walk features over 500,000 lights, casting an enchanting glow over the forest and buildings. Zipline through sparkling trees, sip hot cocoa at the café, and gather around the fire to enjoy the wonder of the season.
This cherished tradition continues through New Year’s and supports local ministries—making it a festive and meaningful outing for families, friend groups, and our local communities.
Once the lights dim in January, the mountain settles into a quiet stillness—perfect for a restful cabin getaway. Our winter cabins offer discounted rates during this “quiet season,” giving couples and families a chance to reconnect without the hustle and bustle. Enjoy an indoor escape room, or venture to Middle Creek Wildlife Area for winter hikes and waterfowl sightings.

Spring: Fresh Starts & Outdoor Explorations
As the frost melts and daylight lingers longer, Refreshing Mountain begins to bloom with new energy. Spring is a season of discovery—wildflowers peek out along the trails, birdsong fills the air, and families return for field trips, hikes, and weekend retreats.
Our campus becomes a playground for nature lovers and little explorers alike. Hiking trails wind through quiet woods and meadows, providing safe, semi-private space for kids to roam freely. Spring also marks the return of Spring Homeschool Days, with hands-on learning and outdoor excitement bundled into an affordable package.
We welcome Passover guests each year during this vibrant season, and their presence brings renewed joy and rhythm to the mountain. Rain or shine, spring is alive with energy—and with our rain-or-shine policy, the fun doesn’t stop if the weather gets a little wet (just don’t forget your raincoat!).
