You Asked, We Answered! Updated Edition
We’re back with an updated version of You Asked, We Answered! We originally put this post together to create a one-stop guide for all your ziplining questions, and we wanted to make sure you had everything you need to feel confident about your adventure with us. Here at Refreshing Mountain, we get a lot of great questions from you, our awesome guests, so we’ve compiled this updated list of FAQs with answers straight from our team.
Can we take our infant ziplining? (Super Baby 🦸)
As much as we’d love to see your little one flying through the trees, ziplining isn’t quite designed for infants (yet). Our age minimum for all adventure activities is 5 years old. However, the good news it that there’s no weight or height limit! So as long as your child is at least 5, they’ll be all set to soar—just no flying babies for now. 🙂
Which zipline is best for me?
We don’t know you personally, so it’s hard to say! Over the years, we’ve seen 5-year-olds breeze through the ziplines and obstacle courses, while some 20-year-olds have struggled. It’s really about individual comfort and preferences.
Pro tip: We’ve detailed each of our zipline packages on our website—check them out before booking! And if you’re still not sure, give us a call. Our office staff is happy to help you choose the right adventure for you!
Where are you located?
We’re located at 455 Camp Road, Stevens, PA 17578. That’s about 25 minutes north of Lancaster (still in Lancaster County), about an hour and a half from Philadelphia, and a few hours from New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. If you’re coming from out of town, we also have cozy cabins where you can stay overnight!
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, our maximum weight limit is 280 pounds. We can’t make any exceptions for safety reasons.
What should I bring to go ziplining?
First off, please wear clothes (ha!).
On a more serious note, closed-toe shoes are required—sneakers or boots work best. Crocs are fine, but only if they’re in sports mode! Dress appropriately for the weather and for being active. If you have longer hair, you’ll be asked to tie it back.
You don’t need to bring anything else, as we have secure places to store your personal items while you’re on your adventure. And don’t worry about bringing a water bottle—there are water stations on several of our ziplining platforms!
Will I be in tandem with my child?
Nope! Each guest is harnessed individually, so your child will have their own harness. In the unlikely event that a child needs to go in tandem for safety, one of our staff members will be with them. Don’t worry, this hasn’t happened in our history of ziplining, so you’re in good hands!
My 4-year-old is tall and/or mature for their age. Can they go?
Sorry, your child must be at least 5 years old to participate, regardless of height or maturity.
What if I get up to the zipline and realize I can’t do it?
Our guides are experts at helping guests feel comfortable and confident, and they have a high success rate of helping people overcome their fears. If you decide that ziplining just isn’t for you, we’ll assist you in getting down safely. However, please note that we don’t offer refunds for this kind of situation. We encourage you to challenge yourself—you’ve got this!
Can I zipline if I’m injured?
We recommend checking with your doctor first. If you have any broken bones or similar injuries, we advise against ziplining. We welcome people of all abilities, but there’s a physical aspect to ziplining that requires you to be at your best. For example, we want to make sure that guests can support their own weight and hold themselves up while on the course.
What is your cancellation policy?
You have up to 3 days before your activity to change or cancel your reservation. If you cancel within that 3-day window, we won’t be able to issue a refund. For cabin reservations, cancellations made at least 14 days in advance will receive a full refund. If you cancel between 3 and 13 days prior to your cabin reservation, we won’t refund your deposit. Cancellations within 3 days of your cabin reservation will result in a charge for the full amount.
What about weather?
We make weather calls on the day of your activity. While we operate rain or shine, we don’t zipline in high winds or thunderstorms. If we need to cancel due to weather conditions, you’ll hear from us. In that case, we can either offer you store credit for a future adventure or reschedule you for another date.
