Teambuilding Nov 2020 Scaled 1

It’s been a little over two years since COVID hit, and if you haven’t heard of COVID by now, you should get out more. When the pandemic began, we lost connection with a lot of people, and for many of us it meant we were isolated in our houses, or maybe cooped up with family. However it was for you, we all realized the importance of interacting with one another in person.

Whether it’s your family, your friends, your church, or your work, people are continually in your life. One of the most important skills we need to develop as people living on planet Earth is teamwork. At Refreshing Mountain, teamwork is something we focus on a lot—otherwise Refreshing Mountain wouldn’t have been in business for over 30 years! We believe in its importance so much that we provide teambuilding activities for groups coming for the day or for a retreat over a few days.

Teambuilding is a great opportunity to learn and understand people on a new level. And now, more than ever, it’s necessary. Here are three reasons why:

Learning How to Work with People… Again.

If you have not had much interaction for the past year or two, then this is especially important for you. Developing people skills is, in fact, a skill. If you are not sharpening your skills, then you tend to lose them. Teambuilding is a great way to initiate the development of teamwork. It helps not only you, but also the people around you, learn how to work with people who are different and similar to yourself.

Interacting with People is Great for Your Mental Health

Regardless of whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, connecting with people on a higher level is good for your brain. Teambuilding helps to improve your mental health, like interacting with your friends would do. On top of the socialization that occurs, you also can further develop critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. Those skills help develop your mental muscles and keep you focused on developing creativity.

Resolving Conflicts

Let’s face it: if you don’t have to talk to a person, you no longer have to think about the problems between you. For me, personally, when COVID first hit, it would have been easy for me to drop communication with people I didn’t want to talk to. Teambuilding helps you to remember that it’s more important to maintain and develop relationships rather than push away just because someone is being difficult. As you have probably noticed working with others, you understand there will be conflicts, trouble, and miscommunications with people. That’s because people are… well, people. And people make mistakes.

Teambuilding may just be an exercise for people, but you should see it as much more than that. The skills you learn or reconnect with are too important to neglect any further. When the opportunity to take on challenges regarding a team come up, take it! It is worth it, especially in the long run.
