Who are you, and what’s your role at Refreshing Mountain?
My name is Tim Witmer, and I am an Activities Administrator at Refreshing Mountain. I have been working here for about 6 years, starting out as a Guide. It has only been within this past year that I started full time. My main responsibilities range from leading tours, overseeing our activities staff, course maintenance and inspections, and helping run Refreshing Mountain’s social media. I love my job because I can be out in God’s creation daily, as well as help people overcome their fears and help people have great and memorable experiences. Refreshing Mountain has a great atmosphere to work in, and I love that work doesn’t feel like work most of the time!
What do you like to do when you’re not working? Do you have any hobbies?
Outside of Refreshing Mountain, I am always active! I love playing and watching sports—especially football and basketball. I enjoy outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, hiking, etc. Pretty much, if anything is entertaining or fun, I’d be all for it! I also spend a lot of my time hanging out with friends and family and being with people.
What were you doing before you came to Refreshing Mountain? Do you have any plans for after your time here?
Before working here, and even periods during my time here, I have spent time as a missionary. I have been to 11 different countries for missions. But I’ve spent 6 months in Cape Town, South Africa for a mission’s internship and around 2 years total with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Pittsburgh. So, missions are near and dear to my heart as well as serving the Lord. I love working here at RMC, but if the Lord calls me elsewhere, I have always wanted to pursue being a police officer. That has been a dream of mine. Missions is also still a possibility. Wherever God calls me to, I will follow.
What is your best tip you would have for people interested in ziplining for the first time?
The first step might always seem the scariest, but if you push yourself and stretch your limitations, you’ll love it and never look back!
