TEAM BUILDING FAQ’s PAGE

What are we doing? What should I expect?

During your time of team building with your group, you should expect to have a great time playing games and communicating together.  Our goal during these activities is to select a set of challenges that best fits your group and formulates valuable healthy discussion.  We will never force you to play a game that makes you uncomfortable or that you feel is out of your athletic ability level.

Do You Offer Meals and/or Meeting Rooms?

Refreshing Mountain has an abundance of activity and facility offerings to make your visit with us as comfortable as possible.  We have various sized meeting rooms available as well as lodging offerings and meals available from our full service kitchen staff.

How long are team building activities?

Team building is entirely customized to your group needs and goals.  Most often, our team building sessions run from 1 – 2 hours.

Where is Teambuilding?

We offer both indoor and outdoor team building options on campus.  Depending on weather and the needs and desires of the group, RMC will plan an excellent experience either indoors, or on our outdoor course located in our wooded area.  We also offer off-campus team building options where our facilitators travel to your location.

How many people can participate in a Teambuilding Event?

Ideal group sizes are 8-20.  For larger groups, your group will split into smaller groups and run through activities simultaneously in a rotation style format.

How do I make a reservation for a Team Building Event?

Contact our sales team to work out the specific date you want and to plan an itinerary.  They will email you a written quote/contract to review after that discussion.  For events costing under $500, the entire amount is due at the time of reservation.  This can be paid by check or over the phone by credit card.

For events totaling over $1,000.00, the deposit will be $500 or 25% of the total (whichever is greater).  Final payment will be due on the day of the event.

What is the CANCELLATION POLICY for Team Building Events?

If you cancel your event at least 2 weeks before arrival, a cancel fee of 25% will be charged to your account.  Any funds that you may have paid in excess of 25% will be refunded.

Cancelation between 3-13 days before arrival will result in a cancel fee of 50% of the total costs.  Any funds you may have paid in excess of 50% will be refunded.

Cancelation within 3 days of arrival will result in billing for 100% of the total costs. (certain weather conditions provide for exceptions to this policy.  See additional FAQs for details).

What is the RAIN DATE POLICY for Team Building Events?

We do NOT schedule rain dates during the initial booking process (we presume the weather will be perfect when you are here) but in the event of bad weather, we will work with you to find another date to schedule, and/or we will issue a refund of your deposit if no alternate dates are available.

What happens if there is bad weather on the day of my event?

There are many safety aspects that Refreshing Mountain monitors when running adventure activities.  Certain activities must be canceled for high wind, thunder, lightning, or other extreme weather conditions.  Other activities can be run indoors in our meeting rooms, gyms, pavilions, etc.  The details of cancellation will depend a bit on which elements you have included in your event, but if Refreshing Mountain cancels any part of your event for a safety-related reason, you will receive a FULL REFUND of the canceled portion of your event.

What happens if we arrive late for our day event?

Every event that we host functions like a “guided tour”, with a specific start and end time.  If you arrive late, you will miss the first part of the tour and there will not be refunds issued in this situation.  Additionally, we may not be able to extend your time of departure (i.e. we will likely have other tours starting as you are ending), So, for the best experience, it is recommended that you arrive at least 15-20 minutes before your scheduled start time. This will allow the students to sign in, use the bathrooms, etc. and be ready to go promptly at your start time.

Can you accommodate GUESTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS?

Yes, our activities are designed to include a broad range of physical and mental abilities.  We don’t want to exclude anyone.  At the same time, there are aspects of our topography and certain safety requirements of some of our elements that can pose a challenge to guests with limited mobility and/or over 250 lbs.  We do have options that can be explored for special accommodation and we welcome a conversation about any particular needs your guests may have.  Please give us a call at 717-738-1490.

How far in advance should we book an event at Refreshing Mountain?

Day events should generally be booked at least 6-8 weeks in advance.  Please note that for summer bookings and/or weekend bookings, there are times where we do not know our availability until about 8 weeks ahead of time.  Even so, it is a good idea to contact us well ahead of time, so that, at a minimum, we can place you on a wait list to be notified if/when space becomes available for your group.

Is there a RELEASE FORM REQUIRED?

Yes, every participant must sign a Release Form.  If the participant is under age 18, a parent/guardian MUST sign the form.  Therefore, for school groups it is necessary to process the Release Forms prior to the event.  The group organizer is responsible to collect the signed Release Forms and bring them along on the day of the event.

Signed Release Forms must be received in our office before we will begin your event.

Happy Spring! We sure are feeling it up here, with the warm temperatures and renewed life all around.

Despite the 17 inches of fresh powder, we are working on our ziplines and giant swing.

  • Activities Status: Today they were able to reset guide cables on our Giant Swing. We are performing the necessary inspections, tests, and expect to have this activity open by early next week.

March 10 (8:00 AM):

We received three inches of snow and expect another few inches in the upcoming week but that's not stopping our crew!

  • Activities Status: New poles arrived and our crews are hard at work setting anchors for the guidelines that stabilize the zipline poles on the closed courses. We are ahead of schedule!
  • Zipline Bookings: Speaking of schedules are open online and booking is live, click here!

  • Forest Recovery: The past week we have been trimming branches from downed trees and prepping them for loggers to come in and remove. At this point conservative estimates are 50-60 trees have been recovered and more to address as we get past the initial border of our forest lines.

March 6 (12:00 PM):

This past weekend we hosted 200+ people with our overnight retreats. The weather was cold, but we accomplished more work and are excited about the progress.

  • Facility status: Thanks to Meadow Valley Electric (MVE) Group our solar panels have been inspected and repaired and are up and running.
  • Activities status: Today we have an inspector from our zipline builder, Climbworks, here to inspect and evaluate our ziplines. We should have a projection of when our zipline tours will reopen in the next few days.

We expect more great news, stay posted!

March 1 (4:00 PM):

The rain impeded us from completing some of our outdoor projects today, but none the less much was accomplished.

  • Parking status: Cleared all parking areas of downed trees and limbs.
  • Activity status: We restored our sling shot and archery areas and ensured the nature center critters and farm animals will be ready this weekend. In addition the climbing tower and climbing wall will be fully operational as well!

Feb 28 (4:00PM):

  • Communication status: Minutes ago our communication lines were restored. Email and phone lines are now operational. We can now begin returning your calls!
  • Building status: All damaged roofs have been weatherproofed and are scheduled for permanent repair.
  • Activity status: We will have pedal carts and teambuilding in full operation this weekend, with more to come!

Our staff along with contractors have been working tirelessly campus wide to clear debris and begin repairs. We are extremely grateful for our neighbors who have given their time and energy. We are extremely thankful for how God continues to provide. We look forward to the days to come and our retreats this weekend!

Feb 27 (4:00 PM):

Around 3:30 on Saturday February 25th, a major wind storm hit Northern Lancaster County and significantly impacted Refreshing Mountain. We sustained damage to several buildings as well as our Ziplines / adventure activities. Nevertheless, we are so thankful to God that no one was hurt during the storm. Also, we are grateful that so many people in the community are helping with cleanup and repair. Our Retreat Center ( lodging, meals, Recreation) is still open and ready to host the many groups scheduled over the next few weeks. But our Ziplines and other adventure activities are temporarily closed as we inspect, assess, and repair. We hope to have everything back up and running within the next few weeks.
